AZ Urban Studio was commissioned to advise on the redevelopment of a constrained site on Donaldson Road, London, following our success with Solid Space on their 1 Centaur Street development.

Our planning team quickly resolved the primary issue of the site being identified as parking in a planning condition upon a neighbouring development and set about testing development constraints relating to daylight and overbearing on neighbouring houses and gardens, to determine an acceptable development envelope for the site.

Architects Groves Natcheva took this clear spatial brief forward and designed a contemporary house incorporating the Solid Space split-section layout.

The house was completed in 2009 and has secured a number of industry awards including best house at the Property Awards and being shortlisted for RIBA London and Premier Guarantee awards. You might have also seen it more recently as the set for HSBC television advert, or featured in Grand Designs Magazine (Nov 2011).
