The Skypad

Development planning

AZ Urban Studio has obtained planning permission for the ‘Skypad’, a bespoke penthouse apartment on the rooftop of Magdalen House near London Bridge. The project will transform the existing temporary ‘Skyroom’ event space, built in 2009 for the London Festival of Architecture, into a permanent dwelling with dramatic views across the rooftops of the surrounding area.

Managing the planning process, AZ Urban Studio prepared planning, heritage and design statements that demonstrated the value and role of contemporary design in positively contributing to the character and appearance of both the Tooley Street Conservation Area, and the imposing host building.

We were delighted to work closely with planning and design officers at Southwark Council through discussion and negotiation to secure agreement upon what should prove to be a notable addition to the Tooley Street roofscape.
