Development planning

Working alongside Sergison Bates architects, AZ Urban Studio has secured planning permission for the redevelopment of The Drill Hall, a prominent yet heavily constrained site located adjacent to Turnham Green, in the London Borough of Hounslow.

The development comprises the creation of a substantial basement extension, including the insertion of two mezzanine levels, to create an additional 520SqMK of B1 commercial floorspace. Externally this includes various enhancements to the roof, façades and forecourt. The development facilitates the creation of a multimedia studio, with a focus upon sound recording and sound editing and production.

AZ Urban Studio led the preparation and submission of a full planning application. This included advising on all planning and heritage matters, including managing all sub-consultants. The development will result in the re-use and refurbishment of a vacant building that contributes positively to the conservation area, and the expansion of the commercial space at the site will facilitate occupation for a medium-sized creative industries business.

Planning permission was secured successfully under delegated powers.
