Development planning

AZ Urban Studio has helped Stephen Taylor Architects secure planning permission, to redevelop a prominent corner site on Vyner Street, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.  The site, which is located in a Conservation Area, has a dual aspect on to the canal and Vyner Street and can be seen from Victoria Park.

We were commissioned to advise on the development of the existing warehouse building. The consented development retains and improves the existing commercial space at the ground floor level while adding additional residential accommodation above.

Stephen Taylor Architects led the project. AZ Urban Studio directed the production of all planning and heritage material and assisted with pre-application discussions with the local planning authority. Furthermore, we coordinated all stakeholder engagement.

Planning permission was granted for the project by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in mid-2017.

The project builds on our firms existing relationship with Stephen Taylor Architects, which includes working on some high-density residential projects many of which include heritage considerations.
