Development planning
AZ Urban Studio have secured planning permission and listed building consent for the change of use and extension of 9 Chesterfield Street, a grade II listed building located within the Mayfair conservation area.
The five storey Georgian building is currently used as a office (B1). The planning permission includes the change of use to a single residential dwelling, minor changes to the historic fabric and the introduction of a large sub-basement which will include a swimming pool and cinema room.
AZ Urban Studio worked closely with Groves Natcheva architects, building successfully on an existing and ongoing working relationship.
AZ Urban Studio advised on planning and heritage matters, and successfully took the project through the negotiation process with the local authority, resulting in timely and uncontested approvals. AZ Urban Studio prepared key supporting material including the Planning Statement and Heritage Assessment.
The project demonstrates the specialist skills of the AZ Urban Studio planning team in dealing with both complex design-led projects in historic urban environments and preparing planning strategies which are cost effective and timely.
